Jean-Philippe Mateta led the Eagles to the win, scoring a brilliant goal thanks in part to what Dean Henderson told him about Arijanet Muric.

After scoring, Mateta joined in a brilliant chant from the away end aimed toward Ipswich Town fans.

What Jean-Philippe Mateta did after scoring against Ipswich Town

Mateta’s fourth goal of the season was his second winner of the campaign, after also scoring the winning goal against Tottenham – the Eagles’ only other win of the season.

Mateta’s goals have won Palace a whopping seven of the 12 points accumulated this season and after scoring against Ipswich, he was clearly delighted.

After putting the Eagles 1-0 ahead at Portman Road, Mateta celebrated with his classic corner flag-kicking moment.

But after doing so, Mateta also joined in with the away fans who were chanting “who are ya” at the Ipswich supporters, as caught on video by one fan in attendance.

Crystal Palace should give Mateta the contract he wants

Despite Mateta being so important to the Eagles, he remains without a solution to his contract talks which have been stalled since the summer.

After his excellent form last season, interest from Aston Villa and some Italian giants like Napoli emerged, but Mateta ended up remaining at Selhurst Park.

The latest on his contract situation is that Mateta wants £90,000-a-week, a figure which seems completely justified based on how impactful he has been this season.

Without Mateta, the Eagles would be rock bottom – so it is time Steve Parish rewards him.
