Crystal Palace’s £25m summer signing is off the mark after scoring against QPR.
Oliver Glasner watched his Eagles side scrape past Championship regulars QPR on Tuesday night, with goals from both Eddie Nketiah and Eberechi Eze getting the job done.
This is despite Crystal Palace struggling to dominate the game in the fashion that would be expected based on the gulf in quality between the two sides.
However a first Nketiah goal of the season since his £25m move from Arsenal in the summer – with Eze also providing the assist for Crystal Palace.
Now, the No.9 has taken to Instagram with a message.
Eddie Nketiah sends message after first goal
After an encouraging first start over the past weekend against Leicester, Nketiah has now opened his account and it was a really good goal.
Eze took a clever quick free kick, with Nketiah telepathically making the run to then finish from a tight angle – it was a striker’s goal and one which fills us with confidence that Nketiah will fill his boots this season.
But after the game, he took to Instagram with a message to fans.
After hitting his signature phone celebration by the corner flag, Nketiah wrote on his Instagram: “The line is now open, looking forward to the next round!”
This is a funny message which garnered responses from his teammates including Eze.
Eze wrote: “We’ve started”, followed by a crying emoji and also a phone.
Also responding was his fellow deadline day arrival Trevoh Chalobah as he commented with a fingers crossed emoji.
Crystal Palace have a new deadly duo
After losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich in the summer, it was important that Crystal Palace replaced him with an equally exciting player for Eze to link up with.
Now, it seems as though already Nketiah is proving to be that guy, with the goal of showing the understanding they have already – something owed to the relationship off the pitch.
Unfortunately for Jean-Philippe Mateta, he looks like an odd piece of the jigsaw in this team right now and he could be better suited to making an impact off the bench for now.
This would leave the right-sided position open for either Daichi Kamada despite his struggles or Ismaila Sarr.
