Crystal Palace opened up the Oliver Glasner era with an emphatic win over Burnley at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Oliver Glasner will have been delighted with his side following a massive 3-0 win over Burnley at Selhurst Park.

Despite the two sides being level at the break, Crystal Palace wasted no time in the second half though with three quickfire goals to secure an impressive win.

Chris Richards grabbed the first goal of the new era as he converted Jordan Ayew‘s cross to make it 1-0. The lead was doubled moments later this time by Ayew who scored after Matheus Franca‘s assist.

The game was then wrapped up by Jean-Philippe Mateta from the spot making it 3-0 and three points for Glasner.

Now following the game, two players have been singled out for their eye-catching performances.

Michael Dawson praised Crystal Palace duo

Speaking after the game on Sky Sports, pundit and former Premier League defender Michael Dawson raved about two Palace stars.

Dawson singled out the midfield pair who were dominant in front of an expectant Selhurst Park crowd.

He said: “Jefferson Lerma and [Adam] Wharton were magnificent.”

These two were absolutely phenomenal in the centre of the pitch and Roy Hodgson’s last big arrival looks set to be an incredible signing for Palace.

Jefferson Lerma and Adam Wharton impress

With the midfield being an area of weakness under Hodgson it’s very encouraging to see that being the opposite already under Glasner.

Both midfielders enjoyed themselves, dominating the ball and pushing forward when afforded the opportunity to do so.

Lerma in particular was excellent and aside from Ayew was probably the man of the match here.

This partnership is one which looks very encouraging going forward for Glasner and Palace.
