Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner marked his first game on the touchline at Selhurst Park with a win however, the boss was wowed by more than just his team’s result.
Crystal Palace recorded a much-needed win against Burnley on Saturday afternoon in what was Oliver Glasner’s first game in charge of the squad.
The Eagles applied the pressure on Vincent Kompany’s 10-man side throughout the contest, although the deadlock wasn’t broken until the 68th minute.
Chris Richards netted his first goal for the club to commence the Glasner era, with star performer Jordan Ayew doubling the lead three minutes later to take the game beyond Burnley’s reach.
The result was rounded up by a Jean-Philippe Mateta penalty to secure a vital three points for the hosts, on what was a memorable day at Selhurst Park.

While the Eagles were undoubtedly the better team in the match, the result was helped by Josh Brownhill’s dismissal in the 35th minute of play.
Speaking after the game, Glasner shared his delight over how demanding his team was to ensure the red card was given.
The 49-year-old also highly praised his players after the victory, admitting he was impressed with all sides of the squad’s performance over the 90 minutes.
“In defence we did brilliantly. And then we said, ‘OK, stay patient, always keep the balance in the game, we will create our chances’ – and congratulations to the players.”
“They did it really fantastic, and so they deserve all the credit today, and congratulations.”

The performance of his players against Burnley wasn’t the only thing that pleased the new manager, as he took the time to react to his first experience on the touchline at Selhurst Park.
Speaking to the media after the game, Glasner explained how the stadium and atmosphere helped his players.
“For me it was wow before the game in the locker room what kind of spirit the players showed, the kind of power they showed.”
“For me it was wow again when i entered the stadium before the game.”
“In such an environment you are able to show your best performance, I don’t think it was our best performance but it was okay for the start.”
The fans take such pride in making Selhurst a tough place for the opposition to visit, with the atmosphere welcoming Glasner to his new home in style against Burnley.
It’s a long road for the Austrian to walk until the end of the season with this Palace side however, the early signs are encouraging.
