Paul Merson highlights two concerns for Oliver Glasner while predicting Crystal Palace vs Bournemouth

Crystal Palace take on fellow flyers Bournemouth in SE25 on Saturday.

The Cherries even have the chance to sit top of the Premier League this weekend if they can beat the Eagles, who will be eager to bounce back after losing that historic 19-game unbeaten run against Everton last week.

Paul Merson has now shared what he thinks will happen at Selhurst Park this Saturday, pinpointing two worries for Oliver Glasner in the process.

Finishing and fixture congestion noted by Paul Merson as Crystal Palace face tough test

When sharing his prediction ahead of the match, the 57-year-old correctly pointed out that Crystal Palace have been wasteful in front of goal, and also face a tough run of fixtures.

For Sportskeeda, Merson said: “This is a massive game for Crystal Palace. They were unbeaten in 19 games and I don’t know how they went and lost to Everton after that!

“Palace missed chance after chance in that game. Now they have to face Bournemouth, a very difficult game followed by Arsenal away and Liverpool in the EFL Cup. Before you know, Palace could well end up being on a run of four or five games without a win.”

Merson ended his prediction by backing Crystal Palace and Bournemouth to play out a 2-2 draw.

Jarred Gillett will referee the match – the same man who decided Dean Henderson did not commit a handball offence during our FA Cup final win over Manchester City.

Eberechi Eze streak suggests Jean-Philippe Mateta will not carry his barren run into this weekend

On the topic of missed chances, Jean-Philippe Mateta has been more guilty than most.

The France international sits top of the list for clear-cut chances missed in the Premier League this season with seven in seven appearances, squandering two fantastic opportunities to kill the game in our defeat to Everton.

However, Mateta just scored for France – realising a lifelong dream in doing so – and Eberechi Eze has already shown how impactful that can be.

The Londoner scored his first goal for England in a 3-0 victory over Latvia back in March, and then proceeded to net nine goals in his next 13 appearances for Crystal Palace to fire the Eagles to a historic FA Cup win.

Confidence is so important in football, so hopefully, Mateta’s strike against Iceland can have the same impact.
