What Crystal Palace fans are saying about Justin Devenny after Premier League debut in 2-0 Fulham defeat

Crystal Palace just fell to a dismal 2-0 defeat at home to Fulham, and the scoreline could have been even worse.

Goals from Emile Smith Rowe and Harry Wilson gave the visitors all three points, and both players also saw second strikes ruled out, with Fulham hitting the back of the net four times.

Crystal Palace were shaky at the back and invisible going forward, with Oliver Glasner missing a lot of first-team players as he faces huge pressure.

The injury crisis meant a debut was handed to youngster Justin Devenny, and he was a bright spot in an otherwise forgettable 90 minutes at Selhurst Park, with fans impressed by his display.

Crystal Palace fans impressed by Justin Devenny during debut

Despite the poor performance from the team, Devenny looked comfortable in midfield, and fans were happy with his positivity on the ball.

“Devenny looks a really good player,” one fan posted on X.

“On the plus side, Devenny’s been decent, considering the rest of the team. Not set the world alight or anything, but he’s very capable and I wouldn’t mind him getting some more minutes here and there throughout the season. As a 5th choice I’m happy with him,” another fan added.

One fan wrote: “On a positive note Justin Devenny has fit right into premier league football.”

Fans are keen to see the 21-year-old play more, and in better circumstances than the situation he was thrown into.

“Would love to see Devenny again with an actual midfielder next to him and better forward options. This really isn’t a fair test,” a fan pointed out.

“Devenny has looked really good. Hope we see more of him this season,” another claimed.

Justin Devenny deserves more Crystal Palace chances

Devenny was composed on his debut in difficult circumstances, with Marc Guehi pushing up into midfield alongside him.

He was certainly more impressive than Daichi Kamada, who has now earned himself a suspension after his reckless red card, which followed another underwhelming display.

With Kamada and several other midfielders now set to be absent, Devenny did enough on his debut to show that he is capable of stepping in at senior level, and deserves more chances in the first-team.
