Frank Lampard is on Steve Parish’s shortlist alongside Steve Cooper and Michael Carrick as Crystal Palace prepare to replace Roy Hodgson.

That is according to Graeme Bailey.

So, what is the situation involving Frank Lampard and Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…

Crystal Palace shortlist Frank Lampard

Well, Cooper has already been mentioned as a potential appointment for the Eagles – as has Carrick due to his impressive work at Middlesbrough.

Now – however – a new name has entered the conversation in Lampard, according to Bailey.

The HITC Football journalist said: “People are touching base – Parish has been inundated with options. He likes Steve Cooper as we know, he also likes Frank Lampard. I don’t think Frank can be ruled out. Michael Carrick is one he likes as well.

“I think a young British manager is the avenue Parish will go down as things stand.”

Lampard has been unemployed since leaving his role as caretaker manager at Chelsea following the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Prior to that second stint in the Stamford Bridge dugout, the 45-year-old was sacked by Everton after a run of just three wins in 20 games at Goodison Park, leaving the Toffees 19th in the Premier League.

Frank Lampard would be a huge risk

In our view, Parish would be taking a major gamble in hiring Lampard.

The Englishman struggled tremendously at Everton last season, and proceeded to guide Chelsea to just one win in his 11 games as caretaker manager, losing eight.

From our point of view, Cooper would be the most sensible option for Parish to hire, as Carrick still has a lot to prove despite a bright start in management at the Riverside Stadium.

Carrick reached the Championship Play Off semi-final last season, while Boro are also just 90 minutes away from a Carabao Cup final if they can avoid defeat to Chelsea on Tuesday.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Parish plans for life after Hodgson.
