Jean-Philippe Mateta has now been speaking about what Oliver Glasner does differently to Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace.
The Frenchman made the comments when chatting to the official club website.
So, what did Crystal Palace No.14 Jean-Philippe Mateta say about Oliver Glasner? Let’s take a look…
Jean-Philippe Mateta shares what Oliver Glasner has changed at Crystal Palace
Well, the 26-year-old revealed that “intensity” has been the Austrian’s main focus at Selhurst Park.
Mateta said: “Now we have changed coach, the new coach has a different type of football. It is more about running. He has asked for more intensity in the team and in training. In the game, we want more intensity and more pressure. Everybody has to run.
“We want more attacking pace, more speed, to be more quick. You have to play forward more quickly, and for this we have to train hard all week. If I can have more goals with this type of way we play, then it is good for me and good for the team.”

Glasner’s style of play already seems to have made a positive impact on Mateta.
The Sevran-born striker scored just eight goals in 39 appearances under Hodgson, finding the net once every 4.9 games on average.
However – in just three appearances under Glasner – Mateta has already scored two goals, which suggests this new style of football suits the £9m man much better.
Uncertain summer
Mateta was apparently keen to leave in January as Hodgson preferred Odsonne Edouard in attack.
There was interest from Bayer Leverkusen – while Real Betis were willing to spend £14m on his services – although the Frenchman has bounced back tremendously in 2024.

Mateta has scored three goals and provided one assist in eight Premier League appearances throughout 2024 – delivering some fantastic performances even in those games where he failed to score.
Now, it sounds like Edouard may be the one to depart instead, with Dougie Freedman eyeing a move for Reims striker Oumar Diakite.
Therefore, the upcoming summer transfer window could see a lot of change occur in the attacking department at Crystal Palace.
