Alan Pardew knows what it feels like to be in a relegation battle at Crystal Palace.
The 63-year-old was in charge at Selhurst Park during the 2015/16 campaign, where we finished just five points above the relegation zone after just two wins in 19 games in the second half of that season.
It seems as if Oliver Glasner may need to fight a similar battle this term – with Crystal Palace sitting in the relegation zone after just one win in 11 Premier League outings.

The man who made 128 appearances for Crystal Palace during his playing career has now revealed that he cannot see the Eagles falling into the Championship.
Pardew – who thinks Glasner could play a more expansive style – said: “I look at Palace. They are sitting 18th in the Premier League with seven points. Will they go down? I just can’t see it. I mean, they have been in the Premier League for 12 years. I think they have got more than enough quality to be comfortably mid-table when we get to the end, but with the competition there is in that mid-table, who knows? I might be wrong.”
In truth, it all depends on how quickly we can get our injured stars back to full fitness, and keep them there.

A side containing the likes of Eberechi Eze, Adam Wharton, Cheick Doucoure, Marc Guehi, Jean-Philippe Mateta, Tyrick Mitchell and Daniel Munoz really ought to survive in the Premier League.
However, anything can happen if injuries persist, as we saw when Leicester suffered relegation in the 2022/23 campaign, where the Foxes were without Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, Kelechi Iheanacho, Jonny Evans, James Maddison and Harvey Barnes for large chunks of that season.
Crystal Palace seem to suffer an injury crisis almost every season at some point, so perhaps Steve Parish needs to invest in a better medical team – Roy Hodgson even had to compile a list of our injured players on a piece of paper last season, in order to remember the absentees when speaking to the media.
Hopefully, once each of our current absentees return to action, they stay there – or else relegation could well happen.
