Crystal Palace will be hoping for three points this Saturday when Manchester United return to Selhurst Park.

After a pretty dismal start to the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, the need for points is growing at Selhurst Park with no win yet in four games.

Oliver Glasner will be concerned, but facing Manchester United at Selhurst Park will bring amazing memories for the Austrian after the 4-0 win last May.

Crystal Palace could do with a result like that this weekend to kick-start the season – however, it sees an in-form United side look to continue their two-game winning streak which has seen 10 goals.

Now, as the game draws near predictions for the game have been flying in.

Chris Sutton issues Oliver Glasner warning

For Glasner, this season so far will be worrying, with several questions needing to be answered in his team with the defence and attack both looking dysfunctional right now.

Now, Chris Sutton has been giving his predictions ahead of Crystal Palace vs Manchester United on the BBC Sport website, and it reads bad news for the Eagles.

Sutton explained to begin with that the way Glasner wants to play will likely play into the hands of United.

“Eagles boss Oliver Glasner made a huge impact when he came in last season but, so far, this campaign has not been plain sailing for him.

“Glasner wants to play an attacking brand of football but I feel like that will suit Manchester United, and that Erik ten Hag’s side can hurt Palace the same way they hurt Southampton last week.”

Following this, Sutton gave his prediction for the game at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening.

“My first instinct was that this would end in a draw but I am actually going to go with United to win it. I am still not sure about Ten Hag but I just have a sense they might be heading in the right direction, and Palace have not got going yet.”

Crystal Palace 1-2 Manchester United is the scoreline he went with, and this could leave the Eagles precariously with just two points in five games – relegation form.

Crystal Palace must make changes to beat Manchester United

For Crystal Palace, this season has been a disaster so far when taking into account the lofty European football ambitions held prior to the campaign kicking off.

Compared with last season, it looks like a completely different team and style which is baffling as only Michael Olise and Joachim Andersen have left.

While United have had struggles themselves, the past two games have been much better which could make for a long evening this Saturday at Selhurst Park.

Glasner needs to make changes and one of these is dropping Jean-Philippe Mateta for Eddie Nketiah upfront and then Ismaila Sarr on the right.

This would give the Eagles a far more coherent front three rather than the complicated one currently being played.
