Crystal Palace and Roy Hodgson had a horrific weekend, with a 4-1 loss to rivals Brighton being added to by the new injury woes.

On Saturday, Crystal Palace were a sorry sight at the Amex Stadium as Brighton quite comfortably defeated them 4-1.

Although in honesty the result isn’t the worst part of the day, with two fresh injuries also raising huge concern for the club and Roy Hodgson.

Michael Olise went off injured after just 11 minutes while Marc Guehi is also now injured, although the Selhurst Park side are hopeful he won’t miss too long.

Olise on the other hand, is in line to miss two months at a minimum according to Sami Mokbel with the Daily Mail, although it could well be longer.

After this broke, Palace fans were furious, as the signs were there that the 22-year-old shouldn’t have featured – with Hodgson being the man blamed.

Crystal Palace fans react to Roy Hodgson’s role in Olise injury

On X, after fans’ worst fears about Olise were confirmed, they were fuming with Hodgson and let their views be known.

Furious, one fan page wrote: “This is on him [Hodgson] and him alone, we were 3-0 down, the game was gone, we all knew it. This is gross negligence. Forget results, ridiculous comments in the press etc. This is a shambles. Get him out.”

This sentiment was shared by fans, with one writing: “Roy Hodgson knew Olise wasn’t fit to play the game when the games [already] gone but yet he still brings him on and plays him and then gets injured with another hamstring injury”.

Another shared this sentiment but also added that Olise’s injury should see Hodgson gone: “It’s all on him for Olise to get injured again… get him gone”.

Lastly, a fan brought up an interesting point in regard to Wilfried Zaha: “Also to those who don’t blame Roy Hodgson for 80% of the injuries, Wilfried Zaha is now fully fit and playing most matches for Galatasaray despite his injury issues the last 4 months of last season”.

Hodgson is insane to have done this again

Just over a month ago, Hodgson once more left fans full of rage as he overplayed Olise upon his return which ultimately led to a re-aggravation.

This makes the fact we are in the same situation again absolutely ridiculous.

Hodgson clearly isn’t taking into account his player’s welfare when he’s playing them through injury. Not to mention bringing him on at 3-0 down is a ludicrous call when he’s not 100% anyway.

It’d be for the best if Steve Parish stepped in and let Hodgson go before his relationship with fans sours even further. But that currently doesn’t seem likely.
