Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure could be out for the rest of the season following the injury he suffered against Luton Town, according to reports.
Roy Hodgson said in his press conference after the game against Rob Edwards’ Luton Town that the injury looked serious and, if reports are to be believed, the Crystal Palace boss was right.
Cheick Doucoure had been linked with a move away from Selhurst Park with Liverpool reported to have shown an interest in the midfielder but he decided to stay in South London.
The Mali international midfielder, who is on £60,000 a week according to Capology, had been one of Palace’s best players this season but this injury will be a big blow.

According to a report from Alan Nixon, via his Patreon, Palace fear that the injury will keep the midfielder out for the rest of the season.
Doucoure was reportedly assessed by the medical team at Selhurst Park and the fear is that the problem will keep him out of action for five to six months.
Eberechi Eze’s injury, meanwhile, is set to only keep him out for a couple of weeks according to the same report. It is another big blow for the Eagles who have had a cursed campaign with injuries.
Hodgson will now have to rethink his team selection as the fixture list is set to be busy for the Eagles with the Christmas period always a notorious time for fixture congestion.
Palace’s option
Will Hughes may well be the main option for the Eagles but Luka Milivojevic and Jairo Riedewald could also be options for Hodgson to try and replace the Mali international midfielder.
Hodgson will be cursing his luck as he will have to turn to his squad options in the heart of his midfield potentially, for the rest of the Premier League season.
Perhaps, the Palace hierarchy may decide to dip into the January transfer market to try and cope with the absence of the team’s best midfielder.
