Crystal Palace are currently suffering an injury crisis, whilst also struggling for form, and Roy Hodgson has come in for criticism.

The 76-year-old is finding himself under increased pressure, with fans unhappy at both performances and results this season.

There has been some level of sympathy for the injury crisis he is having to handle, with Sam Johnstone, Dean Henderson, Tyrick Mitchell, Cheick Doucoure and Eberechi Eze among those absent, but this sympathy is gradually falling as Hodgson’s training methods are coming under scrutiny.

A report from The Standard has now revealed that Hodgson has been warned about winger Michael Olise’s workload by his staff, on three separate occasions within the last week alone.

“There have been a whopping 30 injuries at Palace since Hodgson returned, and it is understood that medical staff had to remind Hodgson on three separate occasions just last week not to overwork Michael Olise, who is at risk of a recurring injury,” the report claimed.

Olise was benched for Palace’s last game against Liverpool before coming on in the second half, with it now clear that the decision was made over concerns over his fitness as he continues his comeback from a long-term injury.

Are Hodgson’s methods are problem for Crystal Palace?

With Hodgson not expected to be in the dugout after the end of this season at least, he has operated with very short-term management methods.

Young players are not getting a look-in, and there appears to be very little concern over setting up the club for future success.

He is happily imposing heavy training methods on his players, which has seen the squad suffer with countless muscle injuries.

A young talent like Olise needs extra care when it comes to injuries, as they have the potential to derail his whole career, and some extra responsibility needs to be taken by the Palace coaching staff to ensure that he does not suffer down the line.
