Crystal Palace have made a decision on Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace future amid the club’s inconsistent season.
Roy Hodgson has been under pressure from the Crystal Palace faithful throughout this season but the Englishman has not made his job any easier with his comments to the media.
Palace suffered a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Selhurst Park despite striking first against Jurgen Klopp’s title-chasing Merseyside club.
The South London club are seven points clear of the dreaded relegation zone but the fanbase wanted more from this season and, at this moment in time, that seems unlikely which has increased the pressure on the 76-year-old.
Palace’s decision
According to transfer insider Dean Jones, via GivemeSport, Hodgson will leave the South London club at the end of the season, no matter what.
“Roy Hodgson doesn’t have a long-term future at Crystal Palace, he’s going to be gone at the end of the season, no matter what happens,” Jones revealed. “And Crystal Palace’s ownership would prefer not to get rid of him halfway through the season.
“What is going to take to change that it’s going to be a dreadful run of results that is just unavoidable that you have to make a change or a manager like Steve Cooper becomes available, who Palace like, and they’re like ‘Okay, we need to move for this guy now so that we don’t miss the boat’”.
Palace’s managerial targets
Steve Cooper’s time at Forest looks to be coming to an end and, as a result, Palace will surely target the former Swansea City manager and he would be an astute appointment.
Perhaps the more exciting, albeit risky appointment, would be current Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, who is doing a superb job at the East Anglian side.
Alan Nixon has previously claimed that the former Manchester United assistant manager is one of the targets for the South London side, but it would be a risk.
Nevertheless, the positives of McKenna far outweigh the negatives but, at the moment, Cooper is surely the favourite.
