Six games into the Premier League campaign and thus far things have been a disaster for Crystal Palace who are winless.
After how incredible the 2023/24 season finished – with a winning streak and thrashing Manchester United 4-0, this season’s terrible beginning has been somewhat unbelievable.
Oliver Glasner had an aspiration of European football prior to the season kicking off, but this now looks slightly ridiculous as Crystal Palace sit in 18th position – inside the relegation zone.

This new low comes following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Everton – a result which effectively sent the Eagles into the drop zone as we approach the quarterway point for the season.
Now, relegation concerns have been weighed up.
Danny Murphy weighs up Crystal Palace’s relegation chances
With such poor early-season form, Crystal Palace are currently getting enough points to guarantee relegation which many fans would have laughed at the thought of pre-season.
Paul Merson warned fans of Crystal Palace being relegation candidates, and now as things stand his prediction is coming to pass.
Premier League pundit Danny Murphy has now been speaking with talkSPORT regarding the chances of the Eagles being relegated.
“I don’t see Palace being down there for long,” Murphy explained before insisting Eberechi Eze will be decisive.

“I think they will adapt a little bit. Maybe stick Nketiah up top with Mateta and play a little bit differently. They have too much with Eze there. I can’t see them being in a relegation battle.”
This will make great reading for Eagles fans – with the opening six weekends being very concerning.
Will Oliver Glasner get it right eventually?
Despite sitting 18th, it would be wise to think that eventually, Glasner will begin to get things right again, this can be seen through data.
Crystal Palace have massively underperformed their expected goals and expected points and should actually be 12th in the league based on performances with 6.92 expected points.
This is an increase of 130.6 per cent which shows that things look a lot worse than they truly are with goal scoring being the major problem.
The Eagles have underperformed their expected goals by 3.66 – with Eze being among the main culprits.
This tells us that eventually, things should improve, however for now we will have to assume Glasner is under pressure and needs a result.
