Crystal Palace have given their verdict on how they believe midfielder Malachi Boateng is doing at Dundee United.
Roy Hodgson decided that Malachi Boateng, 21, would be loaned out from Selhurst Park last summer in a bid for the academy graduate to get more first-team football away from the London club.
Dundee United came forward and signed the midfielder, who has been described as a ‘technician’ by the boss of the Scottish side Tony Docherty and Boateng has impressed so far.
His ultimate dream looks to be breaking into the Palace first team and if he carries on performing as well as he has done for the Scottish side, chances in the Eagles squad may not be too far away.
Palace’s verdict
According to Boateng himself, Palace are happy with how he is performing in Scotland and he looks to help push Dundee up the table as they target a top-six finish.
“Crystal Palace seem happy, they want me to get experience and get games under my belt,” Boateng told The Courier. “I am here to get exposure to the men’s game at a high level.
“Hopefully when I go back I can push for a place down there, but all that’s on my mind now is enjoying being here. Palace get in touch to see how I’m doing, they just talk to me about games and how I’m getting on.”
It’s clear from his chat with the Scottish outlet that the midfielder is keen on breaking into the Palace first team by hook or by crook and if he carries on performing to such a high standard, he may well get that chance soon.
Palace’s midfield struggles
It’s no secret that Hodgson’s side have suffered a huge amount of injury issues this season with their midfield issues being particularly pertinent.
Cheick Doucoure suffered an Achilles problem during Palace’s defeat to Luton Town a couple of weeks ago and that injury looks set to keep him out for the rest of the season.
Achilles problems can affect a player when they return and you wonder if this could potentially be an opening for Boateng once he returns to the club at the end of the season.
