Oliver Glasner is now keen to take over from Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace – with negotiations currently ongoing.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano and Ed Aarons.

So, what is the latest on Oliver Glasner and Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…

Oliver Glasner wants Crystal Palace job

Well – according to Romano – the Austrian wants to take the reins at Selhurst Park, with Hodgson now on the verge of being handed his P45 by Steve Parish following a run of just two wins in 15 outings.

The reliable Italian journalist added that Glasner – who Real Madrid looked at in 2023 – has held “very positive talks” with Crystal Palace.

Romano wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Crystal Palace are expected to part ways with Roy Hodgson after very positive talks with Oliver Glasner. Glasner wants the job, more to follow on contract and details today.”

Aarons of the Guardian has since added that the 49-year-old is requesting an annual salary of £4m.

He posted: “Talks are continuing today between Crystal Palace and Oliver Glasner over terms of deal to replace Roy Hodgson, with the Austrian understood to want a salary of around £4m a season. Hodgson due to speak to press at 1.30pm but now seems like a matter of time until he is sacked”.

Difficult time for Roy Hodgson

In our view, it would be cruel of Parish to make Hodgson hold today’s press conference – if he really is on the brink of being sacked.

The 76-year-old will simply be sat in a room full of journalists pushing him for answers, on a situation Hodgson himself admits has been the toughest of his lengthy managerial career.

Of course, the decision to sack him is inarguable given a woeful run of results, although the manner in which it is handled should carry some importance to Parish, who upset a few supporters by sacking Patrick Vieira over the phone back in March 2023 as the Frenchman drove to training.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as further developments regarding Glasner and Hodgson are expected.
