Oliver Glasner – who Real Madrid considered in 2023 – is now a “concrete” option to replace Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano.

So, what is the latest on Oliver Glasner and Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…

Oliver Glasner a concrete option for Crystal Palace

Well – according to Romano – the Austrian is a genuine contender to replace Hodgson at Selhurst Park, along with Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town.

The reliable Italian journalist told Caught Offside: “Ipswich Town’s highly rated manager, Kieran McKenna, is a concrete target for Crystal Palace, the same as Oliver Glasner.

“Both are on the club’s list to replace Roy Hodgson, but I’m not aware of concrete contacts with Julen Lopetegui so far.

“It’s not easy for Glasner and especially McKenna, as both have many clubs asking for their services – but the interest from Palace is concrete.”

Glasner – who BILD claim was being considered by Real Madrid in 2023 as a replacement for Carlo Ancelotti – won the UEFA Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019, and boasts 190 wins from 383 games in football management.

Oliver Glasner more likely than Kieran McKenna

While Romano states that neither McKenna or Glasner will be “easy” to hire, the latter seems a far more realistic option.

Why? Well, the 49-year-old is currently unemployed, and can be hired by Steve Parish at any point.

In regards to McKenna, the 37-year-old has a contract at Portman Road, one that he seems very committed to as the Tractor Boys sit fourth in the Championship with a shot at promotion.

According to the Guardian, Crystal Palace actually approached the Londoner, but he is currently unwilling to leave Ipswich with promotion to the Premier League a real possibility this season.

Nevertheless, a huge offer could potentially tempt McKenna away from Ipswich, so be sure to keep an eye on this developing situation.
