Michael Olise and Crystal Palace both enjoyed a successful Sunday.

The France international scored his first direct freekick for Bayern Munich in a 5-0 win over VfL Bochum, as Crystal Palace simultaneously recorded a 1-0 win over Tottenham to end a dreadful run of eight games without a win in the Premier League.

It moves the Eagles up to 17th in the Premier League.

While it would be easy for Michael Olise to forget about Crystal Palace as he enjoys a stunning start to life at Bayern Munich, our former No.7 kept his old teammates in mind with a message on Instagram.

What Michael Olise posted after Crystal Palace 1-0 Tottenham

As you may have noticed at the end of last season, Jean-Philippe Mateta kept shouting “fantastic” after every win.

The Frenchman revealed that it became a thing after Ray Lewington would frequently use the adjective to praise players in the dressing room, and Olise paid tribute to that inside joke after a goal from the £9m man secured all three points against Spurs.

On Instagram, the Bayern Munich No.17 posted a photo of Mateta and Marc Guehi celebrating, with the caption “fantastic” to accompany it as you can see below.

Olise also sent a lovely message to Crystal Palace fans after departing for the Allianz Arena, so – despite being a fairly introverted person who struggles to convey much emotion during interviews – he clearly has a soft spot for the Eagles, based off his social media activity.

Steve Parish has added reason to root for Olise at Bayern Munich

Olise enjoyed three fantastic seasons at Selhurst Park – and nobody associated with Crystal Palace seems to have a bad word to say about the winger.

Therefore, Steve Parish and others inside Crystal Palace presumably want the 22-year-old to excel, although there are also financial reasons behind why club insiders will be keen for him to thrive.

Crucially, Crystal Palace negotiated a sell-on clause when Olise moved to Bayern Munich, meaning we are entitled to a chunk of the cash should he secure a lucrative move in future.

That was a wise move from Dougie Freedman, as the Londoner could well become a £100m player in future if he keeps his current form up.
