Whether Crystal Palace negotiated sell-on clause or not as Michael Olise shines at Bayern Munich

Many Crystal Palace fans are nervously asking whether Dougie Freedman negotiated a sell-on clause in the deal which saw Michael Olise join Bayern Munich.

The France international has already put his name up in lights in Bavaria, scoring five goals while also providing three assists in six appearances under Vincent Kompany.

Back in July, Bayern Munich managed to sign Olise for just £50.8m due to a release clause in his old contract at Selhurst Park.

That now seems like a bargain for the Londoner – who is arguably a £100m talent.

So, did Crystal Palace negotiate a sell-on clause in the deal which saw Michael Olise join Bayern Munich? Let’s take a look…

Do Crystal Palace have a Michael Olise sell-on clause?

Fortunately, the answer is yes – according to The Sun.

It is believed that Crystal Palace negotiated a 15% sell-on clause with the German giants.

That might not seem like much, but if Olise keeps performing this incredibly at Bayern Munich, it could well secure the Eagles millions in future.

For example, if Real Madrid were to eventually spend £100m on the 22-year-old in future, it would net Crystal Palace a tidy £15m chunk of cash.

That is more than Freedman spent to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta, Ismaila Sarr, Chris Richards and Daniel Munoz, so the Glaswegian could work wonders with that money later down the line.

Eagles have made a mess of replacing the France international

Of course, Freedman was always going to be hard pushed to replace a player as talented as Olise, who is undoubtedly one of the best footballers on the planet right now.

However, Crystal Palace signed a variety of players in Sarr, Eddie Nketiah and Daichi Kamada to replace Olise’s output, a strategy which is yet to pay off as the attack looks severely unbalanced.

Admittedly, a player of equal quality was not going to be found, realistically, but we feel it would have been far more sensible to just sign another left-footed forward, to keep the same dynamic going in the attack under Oliver Glasner.

Instead, we are watching Nketiah start on the right for some reason – where he only ever played ten times for Arsenal – while bizarrely also loaning out our only left-footed forward in Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who moved to Sheffield United.

Hopefully, the likes of Nketiah, Sarr and Kamada gel soon, as the current shape looks to be a bit of a mess.
