Crystal Palace could soon welcome a new board member to Selhurst Park as John Textor continues his attempts to buy Everton.
The American – who currently holds a 45% stake in Crystal Palace – needs to step away from Selhurst Park if he is to take over from Farhad Moshiri at Everton, as there would obviously be a conflict of interests in owning two Premier League clubs.

John Textor says two “good bids” have been made to buy 45% Crystal Palace stake
The 58-year-old has now spoken to Sky Sports to reveal the latest on his attempted £600m takeover of Everton.
Textor said: “There’s been articles written about how we’ve experienced difficulties selling our interest, but that is wrong. We haven’t had difficulties selling. We started the process a while back and that process takes a while.
“We have 14 groups interested in Palace who are very qualified and we have five that went to the next level, and now we have two who have made good bids, while there is also the possibility that our partners (Steve Parish, Josh Harris and David Blitzer) might still want it as they love the club as much as I do.
“We’re into the final week or two of knowing who the buyer will be.”
Textor – who was livid when Parish voted against transfers between related clubs – added that part of the reason he wants to buy Everton is to bring back the glory days for the Toffees.
If you are unaware, the Merseysiders won the old First Division on nine occasions, and also boast five FA Cups among many other trophies.
The man from Kirksville continued: “With no disrespect to Crystal Palace, they have wonderful fans, but they have never had that sense of greatness and being on top and then losing that.”
Time for a change
Whether Parish, Harris and Blitzer absorb Textor’s portion of Crystal Palace, or an entirely new director arrives in SE25, it will be good to have a change.
The man known as a virtual reality guru in America surely had good intentions when arriving at Selhurst Park in August 2021, but his multi-club model often gives the impression that his focus is split across Botafogo, RWD Molenbeek and Lyon, when ideally, he would put all of his time into helping Crystal Palace.
Interestingly, Textor has already admitted that his multi-club model does not sit right with Parish, so it would be best for all parties if a change occurred in the boardroom.
