Crystal Palace’s injury troubles just seem to continue getting worse, now another player has been ruled out long-term.
The injury list at Selhurst Park is one we all know to be long, but in the last day or so, it’s only lengthened.
Marc Guehi‘s injury has been extended by surgery which will see him out until the final weeks of the season. Rob Holding likewise is likely to miss the remainder of the season.
Meanwhile, Michael Olise and Cheick Doucoure are both already long-term absentees but there is hope they’ll feature again this season.
Now, another injury has been confirmed to be long-term for Crystal Palace, a serious blow for Oliver Glasner.
Oliver Glasner handed new injury blow
In a week which has already seen Palace suffer a handful of blows, there’s now been another this time for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi.
The winger was already known to be injured, although the severity wasn’t understood until now.
Edmund Brack has reported that the 21-year-old will be sidelined for between six and eight weeks due to a hamstring injury which was picked up.
The issue is described as ‘separate’ from the hamstring problem which Rak-Sakyi suffered in November.
Palace are in desperate need of a rebuild
While there are lots of talented footballers in the Crystal Palace squad, there is one serious issue. The team as a whole simply can’t stay fit with only a few players capable of doing so.
Glasner needs a reliable group of players going forward, as there’s little point in having a talented team if half are injured for most of the season.
This summer will be crucial and will play a large role in how next season goes for Palace.
With a manager like Glasner in charge, correct recruitment could see things improve substantially and quickly with a rapid rise toward the mid-table group.
But Glasenr needs reliable players for next season.
