Crystal Palace are on a disastrous run, with just one point in the last five league games, and are also suffering from an injury crisis.
There is a miserable mood among the Crystal Palace fanbase, as both performances and results have been poor, and manager Roy Hodgson is coming under increasing pressure.
An injury to midfielder Cheick Doucoure has meant that defender Chris Richards gained an opportunity to replace him in the middle, and he has been fairly impressive despite playing in an unfamiliar role.
Richards has now lifted the lid on what the mood is like in the Palace dressing room after what has been a nightmare few weeks.
Chris Richards opens up on Crystal Palace dressing room mood
Speaking to Crystal Palace club media, Richards explained how he and his teammates are feeling about the current run of form.
“Yeah, [the dressing room] is definitely level,” he stated.
“We know as quickly as it can go down, it can just as quickly go to the positive as well.
“I think that’s one good thing about the Premier League: you’re playing multiple games a week for the most part, so if you have a bad game, you can’t harp on that too long because it may feed into the next game.
“Of course nobody likes losing, but I think whether we’re up or whether we’re down, we try to keep a level head – because in the Prem, it can change in an instant.”
Are Crystal Palace headed for disaster?

Given the sheer volume of injuries within the squad, which is also bereft of confidence, it is tough to see where Palace’s next win will come.
Palace travel to face the Champions Manchester City on Saturday, before a heated clash with Brighton on Thursday followed by games against Chelsea, Brentford and Arsenal.
Palace are winless in five, and this could easily become 10. Whilst they are seven points clear of the relegation zone, if they cannot find a win soon, they could find themselves sleepwalking into a relegation battle.
