Roy Hodgson is hanging onto his role as manager of Crystal Palace by the skin of his teeth, and now a pundit has made an interesting claim.
Crystal Palace have been struggling in recent months and another defeat this weekend is probably expected.
Facing Manchester City away isn’t a game Palace in this form can expect to take too much away from.
Palace will therefore probably take the hit and look forward to Brighton the following week, with the boss already under serious heat.
But ahead of this game, BBC pundit Michael Brown has shared an absolutely ridiculous claim about Roy Hodgson.

Writing on BBC Sport, Brown claimed that he thinks Hodgson would happily step aside if Palace found their ideal manager.
“I think if the right person was available, I’m sure Roy would wish everybody well. He loves the challenge, but he wouldn’t want to outstay his welcome.
“He’s gone on and saved them yet again. The job he has done is just ridiculous. They aren’t in the relegation zone, they are in a healthy position.”
Brown also touched on the fact he thinks Palace are in a good place given they’re one win away from 12th place and that anything above relegation is a solid season.
He continued, “They will be expecting more than where they are probably and to be higher up the table.
“But Roy Hodgson has come in as a stop-gap really, to keep the club in a good position while they look to consolidate and go forward financially and with recruitment.”
Who might be Palace’s ideal manager?
It is widely reported that former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui is the man Palace would ideally want to put in the dugout.
Aside from this, Steve Cooper is a name that Palace also have been linked to and he could himself be available very soon.
Either way, a continuation in the current form Palace are in would be catastrophic and see Hodgson no doubt facing further scrutiny from fans and the board.
With the squad Palace currently have, there is no question that Hodgson isn’t getting the best out of it and to improve no matter the respect for Hodgson, he may need replacing.
