Amid reports that John Textor is now keen to exit Crystal Palace, speculation has begun over who could take his 45% stake.
As if Crystal Palace needed some extra instability with Roy Hodgson‘s future in the air, now there could be a takeover battle in the offing.
Yesterday it was reported that the ownership situation was becoming increasingly strained with John Textor losing patience with Steve Parish as the two continue to butt heads.
The two owners are clashing over the direction which Parish is taking the club with Textor also unhappy with his lack of control.
After this, Miguel Delaney with The Independent wrote that Eagle Football Holdings – Textor’s company that owns Lyon, Botafogo and RWD Molenbeek – are looking into the potential sale of his 45% stake in Crystal Palace.
With the potential huge chunk of the club possibly for sale, rumours are now flying around which suggest that Josh Harris could lead the way to purchase them.
Josh Harris could increase his stake in Crystal Palace
This comes according to The Mirror which reports that the current 45% stakeholder and owner of the Washington Commanders, Harris, could increase his stake in Palace.
Harris currently owns 18% of Palace, but with the opportunity to make that as much as 63%, he may take the chance to become the majority shareholder, giving him the upper hand in a bid to acquire shares.
Harris’ business partner Dave Blitzer also owns 18%, which would leave Steve Parish in a weird situation and possibly forced to vacate his current control in the club.
Parish owns just 10% of the club yet has seriously outsized voting rights which could need to be bought out for the prospective majority owners to gain unmitigated control to the club.
The textor sale could issue a new dawn for Palace
Selling his 45% could actually end up being excellent for Palace, with a majority owner potentially leading to a new regime at the club.
With fans and clearly, even other owners fed up with Parish, this could be exactly what the club needs to remove him from the control he has in the club.
