Despite Oliver Glasner doing an incredible job for Crystal Palace, Simon Jordan explains why Gareth Southgate is well suited to the role.

Since Oliver Glasner‘s arrival at Selhurst Park, things have been on the up around the club, with the current six-game unbeaten run being the best of all.

Crystal Palace have become one of the league’s most exciting teams to watch under the Austrian and this has seen the Eagles shoot to 12th in the table.

With just one game left this season, Palace could still finish 10th and above rivals Brighton which would be an excellent outcome for this campaign.

But now, Simon Jordan has been talking about another man he thinks could be perfect for Palace.

Simon Jordan on what makes Gareth Southgate suited to Palace

On the Up Front Podcast, Jordan discussed Southgate and his suitability for the Manchester United job.

In doing so, he concluded that the job would be too big for him, but added that becoming Palace manager would be more suited to the England boss.

“If he went and managed Crystal Palace, fine I could see him working there because he has come from that background, it’s a football club that he knows quite well.

“And it’s a football club that would pride itself, if it got to the top 10 of the Premier League they’d be delighted under the current regime.”

Of course, this is quite a strange statement considering Glasner has nearly got top 10 within three months of being appointed.

Oliver Glasner is going nowhere

Despite the praise and backing from Jordan, it feels like it is just that, with little chance Palace would want to replace Glasner anytime soon.

We’ve already seen how high Steve Parish values Glasner as he requested Bayern Munich pay a huge £86m to take him this summer, something Palace likely knew was unrealistic.

The impact Glasner has had in such a short amount of time is simply incredible and rarely happens with the appointment seeming to fit the club perfectly.

The football Glasner plays as well is breathtaking so to appoint Southgate and the far from glamourous football he promotes wouldn’t go down too well we imagine.
