Crystal Palace will continue the Oliver Glasner era this weekend, with a substantially more difficult outing.
In his first game in charge, Oliver Glasner watched his side romp to an impressive 3-0 victory at Selhurst Park against Burnley.
A healthy spread of goals across the pitch and from different sources was without a doubt the beginning he’d have dreamt of.
But now we’re only days away from game number two, with Crystal Palace taking on Spurs away from home. This will be a far bigger test and ultimately a game Palace won’t be expected to win.
Now Paul Merson has shared his prediction on the game and on how he sees it going.
Paul Merson predicts Spurs vs Crystal Palace
Writing in his weekly predictions column for SportsKeeda, Merson has predicted Palace’s trip to Spurs.
In this he mentioned Palace could’ve been in with a chance if both Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise were fit. But with just Eze in contention, he has little confidence.
He wrote: “This is a nice game for Tottenham as Palace have a new manager in Oliver Glasner and are set to be without [the duo of] Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, without whom they’ve really struggled this season.
“Spurs play a certain game and this would have been a dangerous game if both Eze and Olise were fit, but without the pair, Palace don’t have enough firepower to secure a positive result.”
Finally, he concluded with his scoreline prediction of Spurs winning the game 3-1.
Oliver Glasner will want to win, but either way it goes momentum must be kept
Glasner doesn’t seem like the type of manager to be content losing any game at all. So this weekend if Palace are unsuccessful it’ll be no different.
But it’s important that the result whether win or lose, doesn’t impact the side’s momentum as this early into the Glasner era results may not always be ideal but the good feelings around the club can remain.
With more very winnable games coming up after this one, heads must remain high as Palace can still progress quite well up the table with just a few wins.
Although let’s not write off a win here as playing like we did against Burnley, anything could happen.
