Crystal Palace have suddenly been spoiled for options in an attacking sense, but one player looks likely to continue missing out.
For Oliver Glasner, things have started to click for his side at Selhurst Park recently as he’s watched the Eagles defeat both Liverpool and West Ham in successive weeks.
This has coincided with the return of Michael Olise who played a big part in the 5-2 Crystal Palace win on Sunday especially.
With Olise and Eberechi Eze the bonafide starters, it seems Jordan Ayew and Jeffrey Schlupp are Glasner’s top choices to play as the backup.
This is all well and good, but it leaves one player out in the cold with no real position in the squad. Now Glasner has commented on him.
Oliver Glasner admits Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is down the pecking order at Crystal Palace
Glasner has spoken with the press ahead of his side taking on Newcastle at Selhurst Park on Wednesday.
One topic which South London Press journalist Edmund Brack asked him about was Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and how far he is from being involved.
To this, Glasner responded by indicating that Rak-Sakyi is pretty far down the pecking order.
“The situation is that we all agree with Eze, Olise and Mateta, it’s three amazing players in a really good shape.
“Ebs scores goals. JP scores goals. Michael scores goals and gets assists.
“With Jeffrey Schlupp, Jordan Ayew and Odsonne Edouard, we have three players who could start every game because they also deserve it with their quality and talent.
“It’s maybe now a tough moment for Jes.”
A loan for Rak-Sakyi beckons this summer
Considering the fact Glasner has Schlupp and Ayew ahead of him, this summer should probably see Rak-Sakyi head back out on loan – after being denied the chance to do so in January.
We saw how excellent he was at Charlton on loan last season which even saw him a target for multiple clubs afterwards.
After a campaign riddled with injuries and struggles to get into the team, his stock has dropped by quite a bit.
This leaves the club no choice but to allow him a loan exit to rebuild himself after this season before either forcing himself into Glasner’s plans or finding a move elsewhere.
