With this winter’s transfer window over, it’s emerged that one Crystal Palace gem could’ve headed to Blackburn on loan.

Crystal Palace managed to get two deals over the line in the final few days of the transfer window. Both Daniel Munoz and Adam Wharton were signed to reinforce Palace’s team and strengthen too.

Going the other way, Palace let Malcolm Ebiowei head on loan to the Belgian Pro League.

One deal which didn’t quite come off was the loan arrival of Maxwel Cornet which Palace couldn’t get over the line as confirmed by Roy Hodgson.

Now, a day after the closure, it’s been reported that one other could’ve been heading on loan, only for Hodgson to veto the move due to the 21-year-old being in his plans.

Roy Hodgson wanted to keep Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

According to a report from the South London Press, Blackburn were keen on signing Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan in January.

The report mentions that the Championship side wanted the ‘brilliant‘ winger who spent last season on loan with Charlton to be included in Palace’s deal to sign Wharton for £22m.

Despite this interest in doing a deal, the 21-year-old remained at Selhurst Park due to Hodgson having him firmly in his plans for the rest of this season.

This is exciting for those around Palace who have eagerly anticipated Rak-Sakyi’s return to action.

Hodgson absolutely needs to play him now he’s refused his exit

With Rak-Sakyi missing out on what would be a really useful loan move, Hodgson cannot just let him rot on the bench.

The youngster needs to play and be utilised in a way which can help him develop and get used to Premier League minutes.

If Hodgson is to keep him and use him in a similar manner to how Matheus Franca has been used, there’d be uproar.

Hodgson must bear in mind the development of youth for once he leaves at least with only a few months left at the helm, it’s time to think ahead.
