What Crystal Palace are now saying about Romain Esse and his attitude after U21 exploits

Romain Esse was once again left out of the squad as Crystal Palace suffered a 2-1 defeat at Everton on Sunday.

The £12m – potentially rising to £14.5m – January arrival from Millwall was also dropped by Oliver Glasner for Premier League clashes against West Ham and Liverpool, after a miserable display against his old side in the Carabao Cup.

However, unlike Rob Holding – who was completely banished by the Austrian before being sold – those inside Selhurst Park have been left impressed by how Esse has responded in the U21 side.

Crystal Palace are very happy with Romain Esse

Sky Sports now provide an update on how the England U21 international is viewed at Crystal Palace.

It is said that the Eagles are very pleased by the manner in which Esse has conducted himself – following public criticism from Glasner – and have no doubts about his attitude.

Sky Sports add that Crystal Palace have no intention of loaning the 20-year-old out in January, and remain confident he will fulfil his potential at Selhurst Park.

Esse had already sent a positive message to Glasner with a superb goal against the Leeds U21 side in September, and he went one better on Monday evening in a 3-1 win over Birmingham’s U21s.

The Crystal Palace No.21 scored a stunning goal to open the scoring, before also grabbing two assists to put the young Eagles 3-0 up after just 37 minutes.

Birmingham aim dig at Romain Esse after he shines in Premier League 2 clash

After Esse curled in a delightful finish, Birmingham aimed an unprofessional dig at him on X (previously known as Twitter).

The Championship side saw fit to bring up his price tag after the goal, seeming to mock the fact a player of that value has been dropped to this level by Glasner.

Birmingham even mentioned the £12m fee again in a match report on their official website.

For a side who spent over £15m to sign Jay Stansfield from Fulham whilst still in League One, it is certainly not their place to comment on transfer fees.
