Rob Holding has been demoted at Crystal Palace by Oliver Glasner.
The £4m signing from Arsenal in September 2023 has only made one appearance for Crystal Palace since arriving at Selhurst Park – with neither Roy Hodgson or the Austrian taking a shine to him.
This lack of game time appeared to frustrate Holding, who was banished by Glasner due to a disagreement over a running drill after the 2-0 defeat against West Ham this season.
That result has contributed to Crystal Palace sitting 18th in the Premier League, as the Eagles still search for a first win of the 2024/25 campaign.

Rob Holding has since been working with the Crystal Palace U21 side after being axed by Oliver Glasner – with sources now sharing how the defender is behaving amongst the youngsters.
Rob Holding has been a role model amongst Crystal Palace U21s
An update on this situation from the BBC now shares that the Crystal Palace No.4 has been a true professional despite his demotion.
Alex Howell reports that Holding – who was also left out of the 2024/25 squad photo – has been described as “brilliant” by sources close to the Crystal Palace U21 side.

However, sources also stressed that the situation is unlikely to change for the 29-year-old despite his exemplary attitude, with a January exit, either on loan or permanently, looking highly possible.
Oliver Glasner has no need for Holding
Even if Holding and Glasner do make amends, there is no place for the Englishman at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace already have a wealth of options in central defence, with Marc Guehi, Maxence Lacroix, Trevoh Chalobah, Chris Richards and Chadi Riad to call upon in terms of natural options, while Jefferson Lerma and Nathaniel Clyne have also impressed in that area.

Furthermore, Mofe Jemide – who outshone Holding in a recent U21 match – is a top talent worthy of consideration.
Therefore, Holding’s career at Crystal Palace certainly seems to be over, before it had even truly began.
