Crystal Palace managed to keep Marc Guehi during the summer transfer window – but the situation is not entirely over just yet.
As you surely heard, Newcastle tried to sign Guehi throughout the summer, only to see several bids rejected by Steve Parish.
The England international has since played every minute of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign so far – although it has been far from plain sailing as Crystal Palace sit 18th.

That is largely down to the loss of Joachim Andersen, who is thriving at Fulham after sealing a £30m move to Craven Cottage.
Now, there has been a concerning update on Marc Guehi at Crystal Palace.
Crystal Palace resigned to losing Marc Guehi
A story from the Daily Mail now states that Crystal Palace currently feel resigned to losing the £18m man in one of the next two transfer windows.
It is said that Crystal Palace have attempted to start discussions over a new contract with Guehi, but he is yet to engage in talks over a new deal, with his current terms expiring in July 2026.

That may seem like a while away yet, although those at Selhurst Park are wary of losing the man from Abidjan – who is a £60m asset – for nothing.
Guehi would even be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign side as soon as January 2026, giving Crystal Palace even less time to sort the situation out.
The Daily Mail believe the Chelsea academy graduate currently wants to focus on helping Crystal Palace turn the 2024/25 campaign around in his new role as captain, although Newcastle are still eager to wrap up a deal in January.
Others could follow Marc Guehi out of Selhurst Park
Guehi is not the only player who could soon leave Crystal Palace.
There are doubts over the future of Jean-Philippe Mateta at Crystal Palace, with the Frenchman also hesitant over signing a new contract, with his current deal expiring in July 2026 too.
Furthermore, Manchester City are looking at Adam Wharton after Rodri suffered a serious injury.

This current situation just goes to show how bizarre it was to give players as talented as Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, Guehi, Andersen, Cheick Doucoure and Mateta to Roy Hodgson, a move akin to letting a man without a license loose with a Ferrari.
After failing to capitalise on what could be looked back on as a golden generation of talent at Crystal Palace, these stellar names could soon leave Selhurst Park in bulk, setting us back years.
