Daichi Kamada endured a nightmarish Saturday as Crystal Palace fell to a 2-0 defeat against Fulham.

The Japan international was negative throughout the Premier League clash at Selhurst Park – frequently passing the ball backwards and failing to show much desire.

It spoke volumes that Justin Devenny – who impressed fans – outshone the Crystal Palace No.18 in midfield on his Premier League debut.

The afternoon went from bad to worse for Daichi Kamada in the 76th minute after he was shown a straight red card for a wild lunge on Kenny Tete, which means he will now be suspended for three matches.

With all due respect, it’s not like Kamada will be much of a miss for Oliver Glasner based on what we’ve seen from the summer arrival so far.

However, his suspension comes at a terrible time for Crystal Palace, as there is currently an injury crisis in the midfield department.

Glasner is without Adam Wharton, Jefferson Lerma and Eberechi Eze, while Cheick Doucoure is still not fit enough to start after his recent injury problems.

Good news for Justin Devenny

The aforementioned Devenny may now be sensing an opportunity to assert himself at Crystal Palace after Kamada’s red card.

Our Northern Ireland U21 international looked assured beyond his 21 years with a composed display against Fulham, in which he seemed very comfortable in possession.

SofaScore shows that Devenny registered a pass success rate of 80% from his 25 attempted passes, creating one big chance while taking 34 touches of the ball.

The Crystal Palace No.55 also got stuck in defensively with three successful tackles and one clearance.

With Kamada now sidelined for three games, it could represent a chance for Devenny to make a real name for himself at Selhurst Park.
