This season has seen a remarkable amount of incredible goals scored by Crystal Palace, considering the season as a whole wasn’t great.

For a season which hasn’t been perfect for Crystal Palace, there’s been an alarming amount of top-tier goals scored.

We saw this past weekend yet another example of this, with Michael Dawson left wowed by Jeffrey Schlupp‘s strike.

Schlupp scored the latest but then we have Michael Olise scoring against Luton, Joachim Andersen against Manchester United and countless other options.

It’s been a wild year and with only so many spots free for nominations to the goal of the year competition, some worthy contenders will have to miss out.

Now, one specific absence has been explained.

Why was Michael Olise’s goal not nominated?

On Wednesday, there were queries over how such an excellent goal had missed out on a nomination.

The goal was phenomenal as he expertly guided it past the Sheffield United goalkeeper.

But now Chris Grierson who is the club head of video and social media, has explained the once baffling absence of this strike via X.

“The fans didn’t vote it for Goal of the Month that month. I think we went for Goal of the Month winners, some more from women’s and academy plus Eze and Schlupp from April.”

Which goals have been nominated for Crystal Palace’s goal of the season?

Despite Olise missing out on this occasion he is still represented in the full list of nominees. As seen below.

Of all these goals there are multiple which could easily win on their own, however, if we had to choose one, it’d be Eze’s award.

The goal scored against Liverpool is the symbol of the new era starting and it was such a well-worked team goal which showcased the improvements we’re seeing right now.

That being said, if voting on which was the biggest screamer, there’s no better choice than Olise against Luton.
