Why Palace think they can beat Chelsea and Man Utd to Iraola

Crystal Palace are still trying to strike an agreement with Andoni Iraola.

The Spaniard himself admitted he is solely focused on seeing out the season as well as possible with Bournemouth – who could even finish the campaign as a UEFA Champions League outfit if Aston Villa win the UEFA Europa League.

There is competition from Manchester United and Chelsea in the battle to hire Iraola – but TEAMtalk now explain why Crystal Palace are confident about fending off the pair.

Who should we be looking to keep around? 📝

Crystal Palace think “autonomy” gives them an edge over Manchester United and Chelsea

TEAMtalk claim that those inside Selhurst Park are confident about hiring the 43-year-old, due to the “autonomy” Crystal Palace can offer compared to the Blues and the Red Devils.

Crystal Palace feel their ability to offer Iraola the chance to oversee a long-term project, with little pressure on making it an immediate success, sets them apart from Manchester United and Chelsea, where managers often do not get the time to implement their ideas before the finger is pointed.

Chelsea have already employed three different managers this season in Enzo Maresca, Liam Rosenior and current interim boss Calum McFarlane. The west Londoners even had four different coaches in 2023 with BlueCo at the helm in Graham Potter, Bruno Saltor, Frank Lampard and Mauricio Pochettino.

Manchester United are also known to carry little patience, sacking Ruben Amorim after just 14 months in charge, despite handing him a three-year deal.

Furthermore, Michael Carrick looks set to be kept on as manager of Manchester United, while Chelsea are believed to be optimistic about hiring Xabi Alonso.

So, as far as Crystal Palace and Iraola are concerned, the signs certainly look good.

Who do YOU want as the next Crystal Palace boss? 🤔

If we can win the UEFA Conference League and secure UEFA Europa League football – increasing our summer transfer budget in doing so – then that may just be enough to convince Iraola to replace Oliver Glasner.
