Crystal Palace duo Jefferson Lerma and Daniel Munoz saw their World Cup dreams crushed by Switzerland as Colombia suffered defeat on penalties in the last 16.
It was a tough result to take for the South Americans, considering Jaminton Campaz missed a glorious chance to win the game right at the end of extra time after Munoz did superbly to win the ball back.
After Lerma posted a passionate message on Instagram in the wake of Colombia’s World Cup exit, the Crystal Palace No.8 received a heartfelt response from Yeremy Pino.

What do Palace need to do next after landing a new defender in Mingueza? 🇪🇸
Yeremy Pino says he admires Jefferson Lerma after Colombia lose to Switzerland
After Colombia were sent home, Lerma wrote a lengthy message reflecting on the World Cup campaign and his admiration for his teammates.
Pino – who is nursing a shoulder injury – was quick to respond, attempting to console his Crystal Palace teammate by writing: “You’re the best! I admire you 💛”
Munoz reacted too, sending a defiant message as the Crystal Palace No.2 replied: “All the way 🇨🇴🔥❤️”
Lerma and Munoz now get the chance to embark on a three-week holiday after an extended 2025/26 campaign, which was gruelling enough without the World Cup considering Crystal Palace played 60 games last term in all competitions due to the UEFA Conference League.

The Colombian duo can, however, choose to return to Copers Cope for pre-season training before those three weeks are over if they want to do so.
With regard to Pino, the Spaniard looks capable of going the distance at the World Cup, with Spain yet to concede a single goal ahead of their quarter-final clash against Belgium on Friday evening.
So, Pierre Sage may have to wait a while until he can work with the Crystal Palace No.10 in south London.

The same can be said for Maxence Lacroix and Jean-Philippe Mateta, after France recorded a 2-0 win over Chadi Riad’s Morocco to advance into the last four.
