Crystal Palace have a looming problem involving Oliver Glasner.

The Austrian has delivered unprecedented success at Selhurst Park in winning the FA Cup and the Community Shield – also guiding Crystal Palace to a record points total in the Premier League last season (53).

However, there is reason for Steve Parish to worry as Oliver Glasner sees his contract expire in June.

An interesting development has now occurred over at Nottingham Forest which could provide food for thought at Crystal Palace – as Evangelos Marinakis sacks Nuno Espirito Santo.

Steve Parish previously agreed to hire Nuno Espirito Santo

Marinakis has now taken the surprise decision to fire Nuno just three games into the 2025/26 campaign, despite the 51-year-old steering Nottingham Forest from 17th in the 2023/24 season to seventh last term.

Ange Postecoglou has replaced the man born in Sao Tome.

Interestingly, Parish actually had an agreement in principle to hire Nuno back in June 2021 following his departure from Wolves and the expiry of Roy Hodgson’s contract.

The Athletic believe talks went well and an appointment was very close, before the deal collapsed due to Nuno stalling on a final answer.

Sources believe the sudden departure of Carlo Ancelotti at Everton turned his head, and he eventually managed to land the Tottenham job as a replacement for Jose Mourinho.

Parish later turned to Patrick Vieira, although The Athletic state there was a lot of excitement over Nuno at Selhurst Park, so the fact he is now available could be a talking point at Crystal Palace amid doubts over Glasner.

Oliver Glasner has already proved he will not be messed around

It was quite disappointing for Crystal Palace fans to watch the recent transfer deadline day pan out, as Parish attempted to sell Marc Guehi to Liverpool, despite Glasner insisting a sale must not happen.

Sources inform We Are Palace that the 51-year-old threatened to resign if the deal went through.

Glasner previously quit VfL Wolfsburg back in 2021 following an alleged breakdown in his relationship with Sporting Director Jorg Schmadtke over recruitment – a topic he and Parish also seem to be split over.

The man born in Salzburg also departed Eintracht Frankfurt in May 2021, with Sport Bild claiming that he experienced further disagreements with Director Markus Krosche.

Glasner, who bemoans late signings at Selhurst Park, was successful with both German clubs despite walking away, so the emotional attachment winning silverware at Crystal Palace has created might not be enough to see his working relationship with Parish continue.
