Additions of Chadi Riad, Maxence Lacroix and Trevoh Chalobah bolstered the centre-back options available to Oliver Glasner, while Matt Turner was added in for goalkeeper cover.
Daichi Kamada, Ismaila Sarr and Eddie Nketiah joined to bolster the forward ranks as Crystal Palace targets a Premier League push this season.
One area missed out on by the Eagles was at left wing-back, where only Tyrick Mitchell is available at the moment.
“We are working on it,” Glasner admitted when asked about signing a new left wing-back before transfer deadline day.
Some free-agent options have been on the market, but one of those is no longer available.
Alex Telles set for Botafogo transfer
One option Crystal Palace could’ve signed was Alex Telles, with the former Manchester United star having his contract terminated at Al Nassr.
That opened up an opportunity to land the 31-year-old as a free agent, despite his struggles in recent years.
A move for Telles appears to be an option no longer as Fabrizio Romano reports that Brazilian outfit Botafogo are set to sign the Brazilian.
An agreement has been reached on a deal until the end of 2026, with a return to his nation now on the cards.
Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor is the current owner at Botafogo as one of several clubs he has in his current portfolio.
The Brazilian Serie A side are currently top of the league just after the halfway mark in the season, though pressure is on to keep that spot.
Left wing back options at Crystal Palace
It’s clear that for at least the first half of the Premier League season, Glasner will have to rely on Mitchell as his first-choice option on the left flank.
Should an injury, fitness or suspension concern hit the star, then there may be concerns over which options are available to replace him.
Jeffrey Schlupp is a clear candidate to fill in if required, having often played on the left flank throughout his career.
The Crystal Palace boss has been a master of tinkering though, having often played players of position if and when needed.
Other names who could play on the left if required may be the likes of Joel Ward or Nathaniel Clyne if some security is needed.
The future will determine if these tweaks are required, but many will be hopeful that Mitchell can be relied upon for the weeks and months ahead.
