Crystal Palace look set to sign Matt Turner from Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day – but Oliver Glasner has hinted that more could follow.
If you had not already heard, Turner is currently having a medical with Crystal Palace ahead of a loan switch to Selhurst Park – after Sam Johnstone was sold in a £10m move to Wolves.
Now – however – Oliver Glasner has admitted that Dougie Freedman is working on another signing…
Oliver Glasner says Crystal Palace are “working” to improve the left wing-back department
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea, the Austrian confirmed that Crystal Palace are “working” on a deal to sign a new left wing-back.
When asked if he would be disappointed not to receive a signing in that position, Glasner responded: “We are working on it.”
That area was evidently highlighted as a position in need of strengthening at the start of the summer, as Crystal Palace decided to take Ryan Sessegnon on trial after his departure from Tottenham.
However, Glasner did not feel Sessegnon was a good fit, and the Londoner eventually moved to Fulham.
It should be noted that Tyrick Mitchell is doing a fine job on the left flank, but seeing as the England international is Crystal Palace’s only option in that area, some cover is certainly needed.
Several options on Dougie Freedman’s radar
There have already been some indications as to who the mystery wing-back could be.
The Mirror revealed earlier on transfer deadline day that Crystal Palace are trying to hijack Southampton’s talks to sign Maxwel Cornet from West Ham.

Despite being a forward by trade, the Ivory Coast international can play as a left wing-back and also as a basic left-back, making 34 appearances in that area throughout his career.
Elsewhere, a story from Tutto Juve in Italy claimed that Crystal Palace recently made a bid to sign Filip Kostic – who Glasner coached at Eintracht Frankfurt – so the Serbian could also arrive at Selhurst Park today.
