Crystal Palace have been handed a blow in the attempts to sign one player this summer as he opts to remain at his club.
Crystal Palace’s summer has already been busy with incomings and outgoings already taking place at Selhurst Park.
Both Chadi Riad and Daichi Kamada are already at Copers Cope training in preparation for the 2024/25 season.
Meanwhile, for Michael Olise there’ll be no return to the club as he completed his move to Bayern Munich which has left Dougie Freedman scrambling for a replacement.
Now, one of the biggest targets for Palace has seemingly snubbed a move.

Jobe Bellingham opts for Sunderland stay
Jobe Bellingham has been reported to be a top target this summer for Crystal Palace, but the chances of it coming off now look slim.
This is due to the update from Fabrizio Romano over the future of the younger Bellingham brother which explains that he is planning to stay at Sunderland right now.
Jobe is expected to want to remain at the Stadium of Light for at least one more season, this despite interest from several Premier League clubs including the Eagles.
Palace and Freedman are said to have been pushing to sign him for weeks, but Jobe wants to stay at Sunderland at least for the coming season.
For Jobe, it might even be the correct call to stay considering he is just 18 years old. Another year in the Championship leaves him better positioned to immediately be a success in the Premier League.

Crystal Palace can wait for Jobe Bellingham
While signing Jobe this summer would’ve been exciting, it isn’t a priority for the club and had he arrived, it likely would’ve seen him head on loan or have a squad role during his opening season.
If interest remains as high as it was this summer, Freedman can be right back in there next summer, as his value can’t rise too much further considering £30m is likely the bar for Championship players.
Perhaps Palace could tempt Sunderland and Jobe with an offer which sees him stay on loan at Sunderland or that sees the deal completed next summer instead.
That being said it’d probably need to be above the current £20m asking price.
So missing out on the teenager this summer isn’t the end of the world, but Palace should stay in touch and potentially swoop next summer.
