Adam Wharton is now officially a Crystal Palace player and his first action has been to send an emotional farewell message to his old club.
Crystal Palace‘s latest signing has only just been announced – despite a late scare on Thursday morning – and already his personality is shining through.
After the deal was announced by Palace, Adam Wharton‘s first words in red and blue showed just how excited he was to have arrived at Selhurst Park.
He told club media: “I’ve always wanted to play in the Premier League and to play for such a big club like Crystal Palace is a great honour.
“The way they’ve brought players from the Championship and developed them into world-class players in the Premier League is something that stood out to me, and it’s a big reason why I wanted to come here.”
Now, he’s sent a message to the supporters of his now former club, Blackburn and it’s as emotional a goodbye as you can get.

Taking to his X account he posted a message which showcases just how much Blackburn means to him.
“The time has come to say goodbye to the club that has been my home my whole life.
“It’s been an incredible journey for me, starting from the age of 6 in the academy and progressing through the ranks to making my debut and go on to make over 50 appearances.
“I’m forever grateful for the support, and guidance I have received from Jon and his team and also for giving me the opportunity to play. Thanks to all the academy stat team, chefs, physios, sports scientists, kit men, Les, Bev and all those who work so hard behind the scenes.
“Playing for my boyhood club was something that I dreamt of as a young kid, watching Scott progress through the ranks always gave me the drive to do the same.
“I just want to say thanks to all the fans for the continuous support you gave me, nothing will beat your club singing your name.
“Will always be checking the scores, and I’m sure I’ll be back at Ewood watching the lads whenever I get a chance to, good luck for the rest of the season.

Wharton is a game-changer for Palace
Despite being young and ultimately too much can’t be expected right off the bat, Wharton will be a massive long-term coup for Palace.
His ability is the kind which is destined to play in the Premier League and that’s where he belongs and will be with Palace.
The next Palace boss who succeeds Roy Hodgson will absolutely thank him for this addition.
