There was a late problem regarding the deal between Crystal Palace and Blackburn for Adam Wharton last night.
That is according to Andy Bayes of BBC Sport Lancashire.

Adam Wharton deal almost collapsed
Well – according to Bayes – the deal almost collapsed on Wednesday night, although the agreement is now said to be back on track.
Wharton had already undergone his medical with Crystal Palace after a fee of £22m was agreed with Blackburn earlier this week.
Bayes wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “The latest, as I understand it is that the Wharton transfer came close to collapse last night.
“That had a knock on effect to potential incomings at Blackburn. The Wharton deal appears to be back on and close to completion & Blackburn can get on with recruitment.”
Now – despite the fact things are back on track – that is still a very worrying update.
Would have been a nightmare for Crystal Palace
Had the Wharton deal collapsed last night, it would have been a nightmare for Crystal Palace.
There does seem to be an alternative in mind, at least – Birmingham No.19 Jordan James – although the timing of a collapse would have been disastrous.
Crystal Palace have already shown their hand in the transfer market – if you will – by bidding £22m for Wharton, so other clubs who don’t want to lose a key man on deadline day could quite fairly demand over £20m.
If the agreement with Blackburn broke down, that would also have meant Dougie Freedman needed to waste time on signing an alternative, rather than pursuing a forward, which now looks to be our No.1 priority with West Ham No.17 Maxwel Cornet on the radar.
