Crystal Palace have now made contact to sign Maxwel Cornet from West Ham – after a decision by Nottingham Forest opened a door for the Eagles.
That is according to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail.

Crystal Palace make contact to sign Maxwel Cornet
Well – earlier on Wednesday – the Telegraph revealed that Crystal Palace are considering a late move to sign the £17.5m Ivory Coast international.
Now – according to Mokbel – that initial interest has evolved into an official enquiry, after Nottingham Forest decided to sign Gio Reyna from Borussia Dortmund instead of Cornet.
The Daily Mail’s Chief Football Reporter wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Crystal Palace have now enquired about Maxwel Cornet’s availability.
“Forest had asked when it looked like Gio Reyna was headed to Sevilla. But Reyna heading to Forest after move to Spain fell through, which opens door to Palace. Told it’s just a tentative enquiry for now.”
Cornet has made just ten appearances in all competitions for West Ham so far this season, scoring one goal while also providing one assist.
Maxwel Cornet would be a superb addition
In our view, the West Ham No.17 would be a fantastic addition to the attacking department at Selhurst Park.
Cornet can play anywhere across the frontline, which will be a huge boost in terms of adding depth to the squad.
The 27-year-old also comes across as a proper Crystal Palace player, with his dynamic and direct style often getting fans off seats.
Some supporters may even recall Cornet scoring a rocket of a strike against us back in November 2021 during his time at Burnley, when we recorded a 3-3 draw at Turf Moor.
