Crystal Palace have missed out on the chance to sign Ryan Sessegenon as he agrees a deal to return to Fulham.
After missing out on Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham in the past 24 hours, now Crystal Palace have been left frustrated once again.
Oliver Glasner will have loved the start of the transfer window, but since July began the good news around Selhurst Park has dried up.
Left-back is a priority position this summer for the Eagles, with Tyrick Mitchell the only real option for the position and therefore reinforcements have been targetted by the club.
But now, Dougie Freedman has been handed a blow in the bid to sign one new left-back this summer as he chooses Fulham. Here’s what we know.
Fulham sign Ryan Sessegnon
For weeks, the arrival of Ryan Sessegnon looked like a formality at Palace as he trained at Copers Cope and even featured in pre-season fixtures.
After being released by Spurs, it looked like he was due to sign for the Selhurst Park side, to help reinforce the left-back position.
But despite how obvious it looked, Sessegnon has snubbed the Eagles after using the club to train during the summer period as he opts to return to Fulham instead.
Fulham have beaten several Premier League clubs to the signature, including Palace as Fabrizio Romano reports.
To further this story, Graeme Bailey has tweeted, confirming that Sessegnon was due to head on the Eagles’ US Tour before agreeing to return to Craven Cottage.
This move will come as a blow for Palace after the weeks they’d spent with Sessegnon in training. Now, it’ll be a scramble for the club to find other left-back options to help support Mitchell.

Who else could Crystal Palace target at left-back
With Sessegnon off the table, it’ll be back to the drawing board for the Eagles. However, this could end up being a blessing with better options available currently.
One option who’d be excellent as a second-choice left-back is Marcos Alonso who has been released by Barcelona.
Of course, if Manchester United make good on their interest in signing Mitchell, then Palace will need to spend a chunk of the fee replacing him.
Kieran Tierney could be an option as he drops further down the pecking order at Arsenal after following the arrival of Riccardo Calafiori.
Alternatively, if Palace really wanted to make a statement perhaps Ben Chilwell or even Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez could be solid options this summer.
