River Plate are now willing to do business with Crystal Palace over a deal for Pablo Solari.

What’s the story?
Well, Miguel Hoffmann – a South American journalist – told El Futbolero earlier this week that Crystal Palace are ready to make a £12m bid for the Argentine.
Now – according to TyC Sports – River Plate are open to negotiations over a deal for Solari.
It is said that the 22-year-old has a €20m (£17m) release clause written into his contract at River Plate, although the Argentinian giants are ready to discuss a deal for less than this amount.
The River Plate No.36 is under contract until December 2026.
Solari has caught the attention of Dougie Freedman – who has already made a recent purchase from South American in Matheus Franca – after scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists in 42 appearances this season.
Who is Crystal Palace target Pablo Solari?
Argentinian football does not receive much coverage on these shores – so you may not know much about Solari.
If that is the case, then a comparison to a better known footballer might help.
Interestingly, Solari has been compared to Manchester City No.19 Julian Alvarez – who finished 7th in the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings after winning the FIFA World Cup, Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League last season.
Manchester City actually signed the Argentina international from River Plate, and many – including a journalist who told the man himself – believe Solari is comparable to Alvarez.
When told that he is similar to Alvarez, Solari moved to quash such talk, telling the journalist in question that he is comparing him to a “freak” of a footballer – as quoted by Archy Sport.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as the door could be opening for Crystal Palace to sign the Arizona-born forward.
