Crystal Palace are now said to have actually offered a massive £30m in a bid to sign a long-term target of the club.
Roy Hodgson could be given a new striker this January as rumours begin to heat up regarding a potential signing for the position.
Jean-Philippe Mateta and Odsonne Edouard have scored five and seven goals this season respectively which aren’t bad returns considering how bad Crystal Palace have been.
Michael Olise has been the other man among the goals as he scored five, with four coming in his last four games.
With the long-term in mind, Palace have their eyes and hearts it seems set on bringing talented Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah to the club, and now it’s been reported that it’s not as ridiculous as it first seemed.
Update on Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Eddie Nketiah
Journalist Ben Jacobs took to X with an update on Palace’s transfer hunt for a striker. Here he admitted that Palace not only had a genuine interest in Nketiah and would pay close to £30m for him.
He explained that Mikel Arteta is planning to hold onto Nketiah due to Arsenal’s unsuccessful striker search. That being said, Palace have a ‘genuine’ interest in the 24-year-old.
The Eagles are said to have actually been prepared to pay £30m for the forward, a fee which Arsenal would want improved before considering a sale.
However, Arsenal don’t currently want to sell and unless a replacement is signed, Nketiah will remain at the Emirates this window.
Palace want to secure long-term target in Nketiah
Nketiah is a long-term target for Palace and he appears to be the priority going forward. However, a move in January does appear unlikely with Arteta dealing a huge blow last weekend.
That being said, it’s looking like Palace is all change right now – including ownership rumours – so it wouldn’t be a shock to see a renewed move made in the summer window.
This could be easier with Arsenal likely to find a replacement with greater ease along with Palace possibly having a larger budget and being Hodgson free.
