Crystal Palace have now made contact to sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City in January.

That is according to The Athletic.

So, what is the situation involving Crystal Palace and Kalvin Phillips? Let’s take a look…

Crystal Palace want Kalvin Phillips

Well, the England international is expected to leave the Etihad Stadium in January – after making just two Premier League starts since his £45m move from Leeds United in July 2022.

Now – according to The Athletic – Crystal Palace have taken interest.

It is said that an enquiry has been sent to Manchester City as initial contact is made with the treble winners, although Juventus and Newcastle are also admirers of Phillips.

The 28-year-old is widely expected to leave on loan, so if Crystal Palace do make progress in talks with Manchester City, any potential permanent deal would most likely wait until the summer.

Phillips has made ten appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal – and appeared to wave goodbye to Manchester City fans after that solitary strike in the UEFA Champions League.

Kalvin Phillips should jump at the chance to join Crystal Palace

Of course, when Newcastle and Juventus are sniffing around, Crystal Palace – with all due respect – pale in comparison.

However, Phillips would be wise to give serious consideration to a move to Selhurst Park with UEFA EURO 2024 on the horizon.

We have previously helped the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek make Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad, while Conor Gallagher also became an England player under the club’s guidance.

Therefore, Crystal Palace can certainly help Phillips secure his ticket to UEFA EURO 2024 – if a move materialises, he could even snatch a place in England’s starting XI given how much Southgate already admires him.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we expect Dougie Freedman to be active in the January transfer window – Arsenal No.14 Eddie Nketiah is one player who could arrive in SE25.
