Crystal Palace are preparing for life after Marc Guehi and have now opened talks to sign an ideal replacement this summer.
As Newcastle United closes in on signing Marc Guehi this summer for a reported £60m, the Eagles have opened talks to sign a replacement.
Crystal Palace are set to lose Marc Guehi as the player himself is keen on making the move up north to St. James’ Park.
This would leave Oliver Glasner’s defensive ranks light, and therefore additions are being sought by the club to replace the 24-year-old.
Now, talks have been opened with a player Glasner knows very well already, he could be the ideal signing.

Crystal Palace open talks for Maxence Lacroix
If Guehi is to depart, there probably isn’t a defender better suited to replacing him in Glasner’s team than Wolfsburg’s French defender Maxence Lacroix.
He has been linked with the Eagles already this summer, but now with Guehi’s move on the cards, Dougie Freedman has reportedly returned to the scene.
This comes according to L’Equipe, who reports that Lacroix will be leaving the Bundesliga side this summer and Palace are the most interested side and has taken the lead.
The Eagles have made an offer and begun discussions for the transfer according to the French outlet which makes us believe that he’s the Guehi replacement – and this will leave Glasner delighted.
Upon previous interest it was also reported that Glasner had even spoken with Lacroix on the phone to discuss a move to Selhurst Park, now it looks closer than ever to being done.
Palace might be about to upgrade
Selling Guehi is not the end of the world for Palace, with his absence not being detrimental last season as he was absent for most of the long unbeaten stretch.
But in signing a player like Lacroix, Freedman might be about to upgrade on Guehi – for a fee we imagine will be less than a third (£17m) of what is received in the sale.
Lacroix is super quick but also excels in his tackling, clearances and aerially while being a solid passer, something we can even see improving at Palace.
The move also sees the Eagles have spare cash to bring in a midfielder as has been linked recently – with Aster Vranckx a target.
