Crystal Palace have now submitted a new bid to sign Adam Wharton from Blackburn.

Well – according to Nixon – the Eagles have submitted a fresh offer for the England U20 international which is believed to be worth £22m.
Crystal Palace had already failed with an £18.5m bid to sign Wharton, before attention started to turn towards Birmingham No.19 Jordan James.
Now – however – that appears to have been something of a bluff from Dougie Freedman, as a new bid has gone in for the Blackburn No.23 ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Nixon claims that Crystal Palace are now offering a guaranteed £18m with £4m included in add-ons.
The reliable journalist adds that Crystal Palace are “dead set” on signing Wharton amid interest from Chelsea too, and negotiations could now reach a successful climax after this increased bid.

£22m may seem like a lot of money to spend on a 19-year-old from the Championship.
However, Wharton – who has been compared to Jack Wilshere – is tipped for big things, with Blackburn boss Jon Dahl Tomasson even describing his midfield maestro as “Champions League level” amid links to Crystal Palace.
The Dane said: “I saw the quality on the ball. He can do things that nobody sees before, he can play passes under pressure, he can play one touch and he has great vision.
“On the ball, he’s Champions League level, I’ve said that many times. I’ve played there and coached enough at Champions League level and I should know that.”
