Crystal Palace have now made another bid to sign Ronnie Edwards from Peterborough – a player Patrick Vieira was keen on bringing to Selhurst Park.

That is according to talkSPORT.

So, what is the latest on Crystal Palace and Ronnie Edwards? Let’s take a look…

Crystal Palace reignite Ronnie Edwards interest

Well, it was the Daily Mail who claimed in April 2022 that Vieira wanted to sign the 20-year-old for Crystal Palace.

The Express added in September 2022 that a £4m bid had been submitted by the Eagles for Edwards.

Eventually, nothing materialised, and the England Under-20 international remained at Peterborough.

Now, however – according to talkSPORT – Crystal Palace are back in the mix to sign Edwards.

It is said that Peterborough have already rejected new bids from the south Londoners, with the League One outfit holding out for a sum of £10m.

TalkSPORT add that Peterborough anticipate Edwards leaving the Weston Homes Stadium this month, but only if the £10m asking price is met.

The Peterborough No.4 has made 25 appearances in League One so far this season, scoring two goals.

Crystal Palace seemingly have a backup option

Edwards is not the only central defender in Dougie Freedman’s sights right now.

A story from the Evening Standard on Tuesday claimed that Crystal Palace have enquired about Valencia No.3 Cristhian Mosquera.

Crystal Palace are well stocked for central defenders at the moment, but with Marc Guehi or Joachim Andersen potentially leaving in the summer, it appears as if Steve Parish and Freedman are being proactive rather than reactive.

Arsenal are one side said to be very interested in Guehi this summer as Mikel Arteta aims to bolster his backline.

Be sure to keep an eye on developments at Selhurst Park, as Edwards or Mosquera could arrive this month before being loaned back for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.
